"Imaging Winter"......
Sunday, January 11, 2009
Hi Friends.....As many of you get to know me, you know that I am a "Winter Girl"! I adore these snowy cold months!.....and if you read my blog often, you also know that I live in Southern California, where this weekend is beginning yet another "santa ana", a few days of warm winds & hot temps?.....In January!???...Being born & raised in Washington State, I will never get used to it!....NEVER!....So to counteract my aversion to living in a somewhat tropical climate, I like to pretend that it is very blustry outside, that snow is falling & temperatures are in the single digits! ......That way I can happily cook, craft & clean without feeling like I'm missing something by not being outside!.... So today that is exactly what I did!......Isn't the "imagination" a wonderful thing!........

What a cool photo! That should help your imagination along. We have plenty of snow in Indiana right now. ~Lori
A gorgeous photo! I can understand. I think it has to do with how we ere raised. Though in my case...I am a southern girl. I am used to being hot and glistening (sweat). Snow was seldom, though we relished it when it did, for it was rare and stayed only long enough to get our pants wet. Spring always came the next day. I will say though, that for a period of time, as an adult I moved to Sarasota Florida. I LOVED it and would move back in a heartbeat...but I terribly missed the change of seasons, the leaves and watchng them fall to the ground and the rare snowflakes. So, I do understand.
I totally relate to yearning for cold winter weather that lasts more than 2 weeks!! These Santa Ana's can kind of ruin the "winter like weather"! Ha! My sister up in Tacoma calls me and fills me in on her weather to make me feel better! Te He! I enjoy your blog! Have a good one!
Well I don't have to imagine here as the Arctic Blast is making it's way to us this week. Tuesday's high is supposed to be 0 while Wednesday's high is supposed to be -3 all the while it will be snowing. LOL With long hair I truly don't miss the Santa Ana winds!
I didn't know you were from WA. So am I! I lived on the eastside basically for my whole life until 4 yrs. ago and am now in Northern VA. What part are you from?

I am soooooo with you on this! I grew up in New Jersey but have lived in North Texas for 40 years or so. Although we get a little snow once a year (or ice) and maybe even twice if we're lucky, it's never much. At least, it's not enough for me! We had snow twice last year--once just flurries and the second time we actually got a few inches but it was gone the next day when the temps got into the 40's. I love visiting the blogs of folks who are posting pictures of all their snow. I am living vicariously through them. Thanks for sharing this great photo! D~~~~
Im in SO CAL...and the winds are making me crazy!!!!!!! BUT yesterday was a dream day!
I am a Winter person. Love the chill and being cozy in front of a fire. Not many of us around. Thanks for the warm thoughts. Terri
The photo speaks "winter" with the cloudy white image. I am another one who likes (loves, even) winter and I like snow too.
I must confess I do not miss the snow. I love the photo you have for your title. The room looks so ctisp and clean.
Hope you got some sewing done on the weekend.

I think it is neat that you imagine it cold and wintery, while you are really experiencing warm weather. I love that pic!
That pic is beautiful...I just wished I could get snow once during the winter but no such luck...I live in Georgia in the middle of the state and we never get snow.
Lovely photo. It's been hot. I'm thinking about your swap. Hugs, Denise
That is a good idea! Pretend it is snowing outside. It almost seems like it when we get the frost in the mornings on some days. I am in northern California so no snow here either.
Honey it is freezing here in NY! I had so many layers on coming to work (not attractive 5th Ave attire) that I kept thinking wow if someone pushes me and fall on my back I will not be able to get back up like a turtle on its back! LOL! Send me some warmth please!!!! Hugs Grace
I think, maybe, we need to swap houses for a couple of months. At least until winter is over. We've had nothing but snow and cold up here. Those Santa Ana winds sound very very nice to me.
So, do you think you could handle a few weeks in Canada?
