Our House is Becoming "Home"......

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Hi Friends, Just a little "update" on our move......I think we are begining to see the light at the end of the tunnel!......Just about everything is here....cupboards are almost all organized, beds are getting made & linens are all clean & stacked neatly on the shelves!.....My kitchen is very small, but really quite charming...and even though I have yet to cook a meal, it is definitely calling me to do so!

I had forgotten once again what a huge "chore" moving is, especially when you are downsizing from 3800 sq. ft. to 14oo!!!...but surprisingly this little house is adapting to our family ( & visa versa) quite well!.....We have gotten rid of so much, keeping only what we need or absolutely love!.....& I truly think we are better for it!....Each evening we giggle at how tiny our living area is for our family of five, but I think I speak for us all when I say we are so content with how everything is working out!....I keep reminding myself that after all,.... "a home is not something you purchase, but something you make"..........Heidi XO

I love the feeling of being settled into a new home and everything is where I'd like it for the moment!

I like your attitude about home, it really is what we make it. I have found that sometimes down siding simplifies life a little. Good luck in your new home...I enjoyed my visit here today, very peaceful and fun.

Can't wait to see pictures!! And I know I was so excited for your Easter swap, but I am getting so overwhelmed with other stuff I want to do for our new home, that I am going to have to not put anything else on my plate. :(

Congratulations on the transition from big to small. You realize what's truly important in your life, don't you, it's the people, not the things.

We're about to do the same thing as we finish this investment house and hopefully move back closer to family in the very near future. I'm trying to think smaller with every decision I make and have been donating and doing the spring cleaning way early.

Home is where the love is. It is all around you so you must be at home. Kathy

Heidi,

It's the people that make the home and I know yours is filled with love. It's also fun to figure out ways to multi-purpose rooms.

Hugs,
Gretchen

I'm sure that you'll make your home very cozy! Sometimes smaller is better because you can all be together more. There are less rooms for my kids to hide in when we have had a smaller house. BTW, I am hosting a giveaway this week to celebrate my 1st blog birthday. Come by and enter! I would love to make something special for your new home.

I am so happy for you...sounds like things are getting more homey and cozy as the days go by. I am excited to see some photos of your little kitchen, as well as the rest of the house. With your wonderful decorating skills I am sure your new little home will be totally charming.

I'm still in the midst of my move too. My new apartment is so much smaller, with very little storage, so it is taking me a while to sort, discard, and place. I can hardly wait until that part is finished so I can enjoy it more. So glad you are happy in your smaller place and looking forward to hearing more about it as the days go along. ♥

I know that you will be glad to get all those BOXES out of the way! I really like the quote you wrote in your post. I can't wait to see pics of your new taylored-to-fit home!

So true. Even if you have nothing else, you still have each other.
