"Holidays Continue, but in a Quieter Way"......
Monday, December 29, 2008
Yesterday morning, our holiday company left to return home. We have had a wonderful time having everyone here, but since the house has been "busting at the seams" since December 18th.....It is just lovely to have our home back to normal......just my husband & I, our two girls, our grandson & all seven dogs & cats......still "full" to some of you, but "oh-so quiet" to us!
Unlike many of you,.... I am quite happy to be leaving up our tree & most of my decorations. I was late in putting it all up, so am in no hurry to see it gone!....With all the holiday "hub-bub", I haven't baked even one Christmas cookie??....So tomorrow, I am picking our two favorites & making up a batch of each!....I still haven't watched "White Christmas", "Miracle on 34th Street" or "The Holiday", .....so am looking forward to a few nights of fireplace fires, sipping hot chocolate & losing ourselves in these holiday movie classics!...I think I have just described our evening tonight!.....warm, cozy & full of continuing holiday spirit!.......Enjoy your evening!.......Heidi XO

Heidi,
Your evening sounds wonderful. Like you decorations got put up late here and things got delayed. My tree is still up and I am loving the lights on it every night. We have been watching movies every night, sitting in front of the fireplace, having Christmas cookies and hot cocoa, so peaceful and relaxing. Sometimes when things slow down, is the best time : )

Hi Heidi...I am with you. Decorations are still up and I am still loving them. I am not making cookies though...I have eaten enough junk!!!
Goes to show us that everyone is at a different place. As long as we are happy where we are...life is good. Enjoy your relaxing time. Happy New Year!
Oh, I know just what you mean. It's wonderful to have house guests, but it when they leave, we certainly appreciate our "normal" lives. Your night sounds lovely. I hope you are enjoying your Christmas cookies and a good Christmas movie. laurie
Heidi,You sound just like us.I was late in getting the tree up because we went with a real one instead of my white martha stewart tree this year.I never got my baking done from getting sick.I started baking tonight and will do more tomorrow.I enjoy the lights on the tree till mid jan.We just love it and always build a puzzle by the fireside as we wait for the new year to come in,with the tree lights twinkling.Enjoy!HUgs,Jen
The picture of the tree-lined drive leading up to the house is beautiful! I'm hoping to have some of the quiet nights like you described over the New Year holiday.
Happy 2009!
Lori
Yes it is still the Christmas season! Today is day six. I did a post on Christmas is not over yet! I got quite a few comments of people agreeing with me on that. Nice to know that you also agree. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I am not sure how it works out that I always seem to do my catch up reading of your blog on the final day of sign ups, but I would love to participate.
Enjoy this special time.
Ahhhhh, there's nothing like an extended Christmas season. Enjoy yours immensely....sounds like you earned it! Becky
Sounds like a heavenly way to unwind and enjoy the holidays! Cindy
Hi! I love the new picture on you banner- beautiful! I am with you- I think I love the time after the holidays the best. That's when I can relax and enjoy the season without feeling guilty I am not baking, wrapping, shopping or any of the other "-ing" words that go with the holidays. Relax and enjoy the unhurried pace! Happy New Year~ Patti
It's quiet around here too. I missed Miracle on 34th St this year, but I did see my other favorites - The Bishops Wife, It's a Wonderful Life, and Christmas Story. ::Jill
It sounds like a perfect evening, Heidi. White Christmas is my favorite holiday movie, and I have yet to watch it this year. I'm still hopeful.
Enjoy your time at home with your family. I am a bit sad to begin to remove our decorations, too.
Me either!! Lets have a movie watching night! I never got to see "A Christmas Carol" this year! Doesn't feel like Christmas until I see that!
Hi, Heidi! So glad to catch up with you and see you're enjoying a wonderful holiday! We're just back from our Christmas trip to the US and getting over the jet lag and settling in...ringing in 2009 will be quiet here-LOL! Wishing you & yours love & joy in the New Year! ((HUGS))
My husband has been on "people overload" and is so glad to have our home back to ourselves.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your Christmas season!!
Elise
Heidi, good for you! I forgot to watch The Holiday too, I think I'll have to watch that tonight! Enjoy your house not busting out at the seams!
Your evening sounds perfect! My mother passed away on Dec. 26th, so we have had a difficult holiday season, but I am filled with hope for the new year. I wish you and your family many blessings in 2009! I look forward to the upcoming Valentine Swap...it will be a bright spot to look forward to in the midst of life. Thank you!
Sounds like my kind of evening.:) I just know you had fun! We are now back from Florida and I have SO much to share! My parents new home is oh so lovely and we had the best time celebrating my grandparent's 60th anniversary and Jeff's 41st birthday.:) Missed you! Lori
