I just adore "old-fashioned" hard candy in all it's glorious forms!....It's sweet & oh-so pretty!....Whether it's the lovely "swoops & swirls' of candied ribbon.....
or tiny striped "pillows".... & peppermint "chunks".....
Or the" filled" candy canes, with centers of chocolate.....
All these sweet confections of Christmas, I hold so dear. For me, memories of childhood are vivid once again when one of these charming little candies are brought home!.......I make sure each year that tall glass jars are filled with a sampling of all these holiday classics!.....
For me, old-fashioned Christmas candy is not only a treasured treat for me, but one that I hope my children & grandchildren will also remember fondly, when the Christmases of their childhoods are remembered......

You are so right. As soon as I looked at your blog, it took me back immediatly!!! Add to that the old fashioned chocolate mounds that came in all different creams inside. It was always my quest to find the ones with the cherry flavor inside! I hated it when I bit into one with coconut flavor!! Thanks for bringing a bit of the past back!!!!
It's funny how memories of childhood come back with such meaning at Christmas. All the candoes you mentioned create sweet memories for me too, especially yhe ribbon candies. They are so pretty. My mother always had crystal dishes filled with them at Christmas.
Merry Chritmas, Heidi!

I love ribbon candy as well! This is something my granparents always had in their home during the holidays.
About 2 years ago, I got all Martha Stewarty and made ribbon candy ornaments for my Christmas tree - made from actual ribbons. They are almost as pretty!
I remember how excited I was as a child to finally get to look inside my stocking and see all that pretty candy - love the ribbon candy and the little pillows! I even liked the oranges that Santa put in there to take up more room!
Ooh, they do look so pretty. I've never had any of the ribbon candy, but I always think that I will buy some.
This makes me feel like a kid in a candy shoppe.
Heidi...where did you find the ribbon candy??? I would love to have some for Christmas!!
Aren't the ribbon candies the best? I have several of the vintage ornaments I use since I can't find any of the real thing. Thanks for sharing. hugs ~lynne~
Hey Heidi; I love that holiday candy too, my Mom had a huge huge glass brandee snifter she put the candy in every year with out fail. That is a memory I will never forget. Thanks for the memory. I must run out and get some.
Have a great week
Hugs;

This type candy is my husbands favorite. He said this is what he used to get in his stocking at Christmas time when he was little. This candy, oranges, apples, & nuts. Kids today would have a fit wouldn't they.
Hi Heidi Ann,
I love your blog about old fashion Christmas candy! We used to have a beautiful green candy dish filled with those wonderful Christmas candies! Wishing you a very joyful and Merry Christmas!

We love the old fashioned hard candies at our house, as well as homemade fudge with nuts.
They make chocolate filled candy canes?! Where can I find some?
