"Voicing My Opinion"......

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Senator John McCain......

Like many of you, our family last night was watching the "presidential debate", between John McCain & Barack Obama. I'm not sure what to say?.... What ever happened to "true debating"?...the kind we used to have in high school or college! I remember being in "history/current affairs" classes where 18 year-olds had more heated debates!?... Why not put both candidates on a stage/room...no commentator, no time frame, no rules!.......just two men discussing the issues, ...two men having to sit & look each other in the eye, ....two men confronting their differences. Instead, we have debates that are so scripted & so politically correct, & supposedly so "fair" that we have lost the entire essence of what debates should be....I say, ditch the suits for a pair of jeans & a simple work shirt,... throw both McCain & Obama in a room for a couple hours.... strategically hide the cameras & let them have at it!....let them talk, walk, get up, sit down, get mad, wave arms around & even "YELL"!.....LET THEM DEBATE!!! I somehow believe doing it this way, would provide us with more answers, than this polite, "buttoned-up" way of doing things!!

Senator Barack Obama....

And on a slightly different note.... As most of you who read my blog regularly know, I am not a fan of the liberal media....I don't appreciate their "left-wing views" being portrayed as if they are fact! I don't like how everywhere you turn, the "opinions" of Obama are made to appear to be the more "popular".... & the "concerns" we have about his experience, his "questionable associations" or "policies" are just allowed to slide, never to be delved into??? What is wrong with this picture! Are we really O.K. with allowing today's media, along with the "Hollywood elite" to dictate to us & maneuver the facts just enough to get the candidate who they favor elected!?......I certainly hope not!
I so hope we will all take the time, to personally delve into the important issues our country faces!..I hope you all read, watch & look to many sources to get a balanced idea of what exactly is at stake?......Look at both candidates & make sure you thoroughly understand what each stands for,.... along with the direction they wish to take our great nation. This November 4th is not just another election...it may very well be "the election"!....."The election" that could take this country in two very different directions, depending on who becomes our president! Wake up friends!.....get informed!......There are 20 days left, before we need to cast possibly the most serious vote for president ever. Contrary to what our"liberal media" would like us to believe, this election is not over yet!..... learn the facts & vote!
I believe that our country is worth fighting for...so let's do just that!.....In doing so, our America will continue to be the greatest country on earth...... the "Land of the Free & the Home of the Brave"..........

If you're not fond of the liberal media, you could watch Fox news. :o) I do, just for kicks.

I totally agree, Heidi, everyone needs to do their research on the candidates, and these "debates" are a big joke! When asked a specific question about a topic, they give a canned mini-speech on the issue and never really answer.
It's interesting to me that you see the media as liberal and they are calling the election for Obama. I see it the opposite! I guess it depends on the area in which we live, and I don't watch too much nat'l media.

Amen. Three cheers!

I've had it with the media. What happened to the rules that the media was supposed to remain unbiased? Ha! That's a joke in this day and time.

It seems so many are influenced by charm and style while not knowing answers to important questions.

I pray we all make a wise decision.

I was so glad to read your post this morning, Heidi, and the replies. I agree with you completely.

I'm fearful of what will become of our country if Barack Obama is elected.

Our country IS worth fighting for, thanks for doing your part and doing it so well.

I could not agree more! It's amazing how the media can turn "spin" anything, any event, any idea into what they want it to be. I hope people do inform themselves and vote for the right man and the right direction for our country.

SO TRUE!!!!

Go back to an old post of mine titled "Enough." I think you might agree!

Elise October 17, 2008 at 9:28 AM

A hearty "Southern" amen from me!! I cannot stand to watch the news or read the things I get from AFA and others like that saying how liberal the media is. I just got an email saying that you could not be a teacher, policeman, etc. in just 134(?) days, so why do so many people think Obama can be president with so little experience?? Praying he is not the next president...

It's a given Obama will win!!!!!!!!!!

Amen, Sister! I've never been so concerned about our nation. I fear that we are on the brink of socialism, a loss of our national sovereingty, as well as our Constitution! This is the most critical election we have ever had. You know I was a fourth grade Virginia History teacher for 30 years. I love our history, So what will become of our glorious history classes following such a change. I hardly think we could stand up and teach young minds "well, this is what we used to have, but we gave it all up for change. Because folks didnt care enough about truth to stand up for our nation, but were seeking a government "bailout- handout" mentality." Come Lord Jesus! Now I will step down off of my soap box, but thank you so much for posting this so eloquently! Unfortunately not enough folks who need to read it will ever see it! I'm so glad I did!

Heidi,

I want more than a talking head to run our government. It is so insulting when most news people are so biased. When did they earn the right to tell me what I think? It must have happened when Hollywood got that same right. I've got my husband watching Fox news now because we are so disgusted with everyone else.

Has anyone happened to notice that we haven't had another 9/11 since Bush has been in office?

John McCain understands how our military works and pardon me but he gets extra credit from me for having been a POW.

I don't mind giving someone a hand up but I don't want to give handouts. Why should I be punished for saving, paying for my house, giving up things I would have liked to have, to bail out people who borrowed and spent more than they should?

Well said! I am a faithful FOX news watcher and they very often come out with things that other news media will not say! If people would only educate themselves before they vote!

Lisa October 18, 2008 at 12:14 AM

Dear Heidi, I so agree with you. I;m not very good with words but like you and so many other Americans, I can't help but be worried. The United States has blessed sooooo many people by allowing them to become a part of our country, the Land of the Free, and I just can't believe how our government and these people are working soooo hard to change all that we have ever been known for.We are fast becoming a Country that is unrecognizable. Needless to say, my heart is so saddened by this destruction and feel that we are in need of so much more this just this election.

could not agree more...electing Obama will result in America becoming a socialist country.

thank you, thank you!!!!! SO TRUE!!

Hello Heidi, I was so glad to read your post voicing my Opinion. I have been so upset lately with the media pushing liberal topics and Obama. I have actually stopped watching the news because it upsets me so. I also did not watch the debate because I feel its so one sided.
God help us all if the liberals take over our country.

I think we all need to remember FREEDOM IS NOT FREE! We have paid a dear price to remain so but, people need to wake up & see where all of this is heading. As another person commented... I don't mind giving a hand to someone who needs it but, not to someone unwilling to work to help themselves. We have toooooooo many on the dole. And who do you think pays for that? WE ALL DO! And the media... I think they are on more than one "payroll"

October 19, 2008 at 8:02 AM

Well said Heidi. I hope conservatives as a whole are not believing what they hear on TV, the Yahoo main page (for example), and everywhere else (except for AM talk radio, which overall is great).

I am so concerned that the our society is going to wind up with a socialist/Marxist regime that considers wealth redistribution to be "neighborly" (Obama quote).

We need to take back our country and make sure it stays as capitalistic and democratic (as opposed to what the Democratic party has become) as it was meant to be.

Dru October 21, 2008 at 4:50 AM

I was just asking my husband the other day if he had noticed how everything in the media concerning Obama seems to be positive, and everything about McCain seems to be negative - at least that is my perception. All is not as this liberal media states - thanks so much for standing up - it is so important to get the facts and be informed.

Tanya Peacock October 22, 2008 at 6:53 PM

Amen sistah! The liberal media does not report fairly and appears to be calling the race early maybe in hopes of keeping the "right minded" folks home on election date. Don't give up without a fight. Make sure you all get out and vote regardless of what the media is reporting.

Louise November 1, 2008 at 5:39 PM

There is so little of this type of opinion said in what I see of blogland. It is refreshing!
