"September"......

Sunday, August 31, 2008

Tomorrow morning we will be welcoming in September 2008. A lovely month that can easily slip by if we allow it. Children begin school, routines resume... & life takes on a more traditional feel. More "traditional" in the sense that nature treats us to it's "seasonal glory",... just as it always has, every year as long as we can remember..."Traditional" in the way we start "moving indoors" a bit, wanting to create warm, cozy spaces to cuddle up in.....& "traditional" in the way we begin craving "comfort" food, dishes that fill our tummies, leaving us feeling satisfied....This is also the time of year of orange pumpkins & crisp apples, both of which lend themselves to culinary delights, along with adding beauty to our homes!......

It is the time of year that the "mum" takes over as the flower of the month!.....bright & beautiful, & very hardy against the cooling temperatures of autumn. The "mum" realizes that we all depend on her for spashes of color that rival only the "changing colors & falling leaves" of this amazing season.

And speaking of fall leaves, ...let us all acknowledge the "show" that Mother Nature has in store for us beginnng this month.....A "symphony" like no other...one that only September can orchestrate!.....So in this month,... enjoy the moments that are traditional only to Autumn, ...remember them.....For their memories will keep you warm, during the winter days ahead. Welcome September with open arms.....

Note: Our thoughts go out to all the families that are affected by Hurricane Gustav. We pray that the hurricane loses strength with every hour.....& that all of you will be able to return to your homes & communities very soon.

Hi Heidi, love the new header it's stunning! I look forward to Autumn and Winter, people must think I'm crazy but I love the colours of Autumn, the views from my house open up as the leaves fall off the trees and there's nothing better than snuggling up by the fire under the eiderdown. :-)

What beautiful pictures! They were so nice to see as it sounds like we'll be starting out September here with rain...lots of it. We're several hours removed from the hurricane, though, so we're not complaining. I got Holly's darling little tags yesterday and they were such a sweet surprise. They're absolutely adorable!

Yes, where did you get that gorgeous blog header? Sure makes me yearn for fall. We don't get much of one here. But I'm still in the mood for pumpkins and mums. Right now evacuees are heading into town. So that makes you wonder if they'll have homes to return to...

Heidi, I can almost smell those mums from your picture and here in the South, it won't be long until we plant the pansies that will last all winter long.

Great new header for your blog.

Such a beautiful post! Fall is my absolute favorite season.

Marja Kristiina September 3, 2008 at 3:07 AM

Lovely pictures and beautifully written text that really painted a vivid autumn-y picture before my very eyes. I attempted a similar approach in my blog a couple of days ago :-)

I LOVELOVELOVE pumpkins. Don't know why. I suppose for me they epitomize the fun and quirkiness there nevertheless exists in the fall months --- and especially in Halloween.

Your fabulous tags arrived to me this morning! Thank you ever so much for your thoughtfulness, it made my day and I'm sure that the others can say the same.

I've been busy with the swap items and it's been so much fun as well as communicating with the lovely lady I was paired up with.

Take care!

Heidi,

I saw your name in Donna's blog describing as "the most beautiful blog". So, I jogged to this place, indeed it's so beautiful and welcoming. The picture is so breath taking.

The same apple(as on your tree) is kept in the fridge but they were bought from the hyper market. Having similar bright flowers but not grown in our garden. When its time to fill our vases, we had to buy them from the market.

Hope I could copy your link into mine...
