"Crisp, Clean & Uncluttered".....

Such "simple beauty".....

After the busyness of the holidays, I usually find myself entering January, with a whole new appreciation for "crisp, clean & uncluttered rooms"......In fact, as I tuck away all the holiday finery, I can't wait to strip away any superfluous accessories that think they are adorning my shelves & surfaces.....The "look" I am yearning for is "stark country"...not sure if that is a design style, but it sure is a perfect description of what I find appealing!......I want very little color, very simple arrangements & only the "basics" out on display.....Now don't be mistaken,.... I still yearn for "cozy & comfortable",....just done in a very clean, fresh way......& I still want a "winter look", nothing too "warm weather-ish"....... So with this in mind, I proceed.....relegating anything with color to the recesses of my cabinets.....& instead,...out comes the "purist white" ironstone pitchers....the "clearest glass" canisters & the "simplest" decorative pieces I own......Doing this makes me so happy.....After all, it is January.....a fresh new month,... in a fresh new year....."Crisp, Clean & Uncluttered"......

" White pitchers"....."white beadboard"..... "white subway tile"......lovely!

Fresh & pretty!......

An amazing bathroom!.....

" Clean & uncluttered" at it's best!.....

I completely agree!! I prefer simple designs right now, with tiny items with character such as interesting chair or ornament to catch the eye.

So lovely, Heidi! I cleaned the house today and took down all the Christmas items. I feel like I can breathe again! I do love decorating for Christmas, but there is something so freeing about simplifying and organizing for a new year.... Lori

That looks really nice. I started taking down some of our X-mas decorations today & it does look so much more uncluttered. The tree comes down tomorrow. I'm sick of boxes in our bedroom.

Very pretty pictures. I love the clean simple look but with a messy 13 yr old and a messy husband and a messy college student who breezes in with her mess and grandkids I've not been very successful. Here's to making better progress in 2009.

Heidi, I have been out of town and I am trying to catch up on my visiting. Your crisp clean white decorating is very fresh and pretty. I admire the look but I have to have color. I believe that look is 'awesome' for a cottage or uncluttered country look, but not for my mountain home. I will admit to loving less clutter and that is new for me. Dusting is much easier too. smile.

Have a wonderful Sunday...Jeanne

Stark Country....I like that term. And like you Heidi, I want to clean up and make everything fresh and lean and organized. I think better that way. Happy, happy New Year. It was a pleasure getting to know you this year. :) xo Lynn

Hey Heidi; What lovely photos, I just love the bath room with the fire place. Oh to have a bath like that.... sigh,, I too like the clean uncluttered look but I also have to have some color in my life too. I do love white, but not too much.

Have a great week.

Hugs;

I too agree...but I'm a little delayed with my redecorating. Just can't get into it right now. I guess it is the weather. Hopefully February will be my new beginning month. Fingers crossed--Can't wait.

Heidi, I just gave you The Butterfly Award-go to my blog and check it out. You don't have to do anything, I just wanted to give this award to you.

I too love this look and it's something I'm stiving for after years of fussy Victorian and Shabby Chic stuff. Love the simplicity and calm of it.
