Here I Go Again....

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

This evening, before making dinner, my husband & I thought we would listen to President Obama's press conference.......We listened about his ideas for his "upcoming budget"..... I guess I just don't get it?......When our family decides a " tighter budget" is needed, we look at what we have spent on "neccessities" during the last few months,..."cut out" anything we really could do without & then make due on that "lesser amount of money".......that is our "household budget"......But for some reason, when it comes to our federal goverment....a budget means taking what was spent last year, & adding trillions of dollars to it???... for years & years & years?????...Like I said?.....I just don't get it???.....I guess making our country's budget means something entirely different than making up our personal household one's????...Hmmmmm?.....Something for us all to think about?..........

I totally agree with you. I am appalled at the money that has been wasted. When someone irresponsible loses money, we reward them by giving them more of it. This is not the way I want my children raised. Live within your means, save your money and be responsible!

You went further than me. I refused to even listen or watch I am so disgusted. When do I get a bailout is my only question lol!

We stuck it out and watched the whole thing , no new answers though. Our household , too , has a different way of tightening our budget, we spend less , not more. Maybe we should give the president some budgeting lessons! Sue

I agree with you totally. (shaking my head) I don't know how giving more money helps the big business that fail...if that worked then why not help all the small businesses that can't make it? Sounds irrational right? But the same principal is applied to the larger companies. All I can do is pray for our country...at least blogland is safe for now!
Nice to meet you!

I couldn't even watch! I'm sure Dave Ramsey is totally appalled! Wish ANYONE in Washington would listen to him!!!!!! Tightening a budget has nothing to do with spending more $$$$!!!!!

Pam @ Frippery March 25, 2009 at 7:07 AM

I tried to get through the entire thing but ended up calling my sister-in-law so we could be appalled together. Eventually it just sounded like blah blah blah...same old thing...who cares what the American people think...blah blah. We are in trouble.

i dont get it either.....
did you hear about the CNN reporter getting the icy stare for his question?
another thing that concerns me is his appearnces on leno and 60 minutes. he is not a movie star, he is a president. i really think he needs to take the job more seriously!

I'm going to vote for you next election! You have common sense and this is exactly how most households are run. We cut out extra driving when gas was insanely expensive. It was quite nice last week to drive to one of my favorite fabric shops 1-1/2 hours away and know that I was only spending $15.00 in gas instead of the $30.00 it would have cost before. I could justify the day out in the nice weather to go and I'm actually very, very frugal! I could really trim the budget in our government if they'd just give me a chance! LOL!

You know what burns me up, is if it were President Bush doing this, they would be scolding him and talking trash. Since it Obama then its wonderful. So sickening...
Thankfully, we can still control our own money. Whatever little bit of it there is.

How comforting to find some like-minded rational people! A ray of sunshine in a sea of confusion!

Oh How I wish I had read your blog earlier in the day ! Last night really made me ill ,It is all sooooooooo
outrageous ,that Washington and Obama are not listening to the people of America. I keep writing ,emailing, calling and all to be ignored. I have recently been watching fox news just to get some sort of non censored news .
We are America and we do have a constitution and it is important that Obama or whoever is in charge follows the constitution. After all with more glory comes more Moral Responsibility.
Anyway thanks for letting ramble ,rant and feel like a sane person again.Love your blog it is a wonderful blessing. Especially your speaking with common sense
Thanks
Terry

I didn't even watch it. I am just disgusted with how our government is being so foolish with money we don't have!

Sherri March 26, 2009 at 7:19 PM

I have always been disgusted but how much money is wasted in these bills and President Obama is just like the rest unfortunately. I didn't vote for him, but after he was elected I was hoping he would be different-I'm sorry to say he is the same as all the rest! I agree with the rest of you "tightening" our budget means a whole different thing. Some things remain constant and I'm sorry that this administration is doing the same thing!

Lady of the Cloth March 26, 2009 at 7:58 PM

Boy are you hitting the nail on the head. My hubby lost his job almost a year ago when it was "outsourced to India" (computer software engineer). We had to do everything in our power to make it and I went back to work as well, No bail outs for the ones who struggle and no stopping the millions of jobs going off shore. I can't believe the way our government thinks. We need term limits for sure.

Valerie March 26, 2009 at 8:20 PM

I hear you honey!!! Go figure!!

Anonymous,  March 26, 2009 at 9:19 PM

They say Obama is brilliant, but I think my 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter could reason things out better than this. So, it makes me wonder if all this is a distraction to get stuff by us that normally couldn't be done. Crazy!!!

Hi Heidi,
Just popped over to say hi!

I don't get this budget stuff either????

Hugs,
Donna

Tiff March 27, 2009 at 8:11 AM

The scary thing is, it has only been three months, we still have years and years for him to do more damage.
I totally agree with you about the budget and even made a post on my blog earlier this week in reference to it.

Hopefully people will come to their senses.

God help us!
Praying every day.

Julie March 29, 2009 at 6:31 PM

I am so disappointed! My family and I refuse to watch anything he says!
We only watch FOX news!!! Enough with the bailouts! I am SICK AND TIRED OF BAILOUTS....and Liberals!!!

Anonymous,  March 30, 2009 at 8:27 AM

I totally agree! It makes me ill every time I see Obama's face, knowing he is doing this to our children and taking what we've worked so hard for! He became an actor in the spotlight - not a true problem solving President. His face is everywhere - how much time does he REALLY spend in the White House WORKING on these issues, when he's out and about and throwing parties or attending them?? Where are all those who voted for him? I surely didn't!

Louise March 30, 2009 at 9:22 PM

I don't watch televison, even news, but I happened to be at someone's house and saw a small piece of the press conference. I didn't hear what it was about, but all I could think is how tired he looked. How unenthused. How much different than the person who ran for office and took the oath of office.

They money is scary. I see blogs with the cost of the war ticking away on them. So what? This bailout is more than $2 billion more than the war has cost all these years. What is getting bailed out? Why is a President going on late night TV?

I didn't vote for him. I respect the office, but cannot agree with the policy, which is WHY I didn't vote for him in the first place.
