"The Week We Lost A Little Freedom"......

Friday, March 26, 2010

Good Morning Friends.....This has been quite a week. It almost feels like some kind of frightening dream. How does it feel to have "Freedom" slipping away?.....

* We have a President that cares more about what "HE" wants for the country than what we do (2/3 of American people oppose the health reform bill)

* We have elected officials that also vote the way our President wants them too, instead of how their constituents feel ( back room deals & bribes from the administration & President in order to get votes for this bill)

* Our President has lied to us all....Information available about health care reform bill?....open debates?....televised legislation concerning this issue?

We as American citizens are so busy we are not paying attention to what is happening!....We are allowing a small elite group of people decide how are "health care" will be implemented to each of us & our family members! Health care needs some revision, but not in this way!....Shouldn't our President & the members of our Senate & House of Representatives, listen to the people?....They have not!

And lastly... If this Heath Care Reform Bill is so fabulous, than why is President Obama & all the representatives & senators & their families "NOT" taking part in it too???....Should not our leaders be front row center when it comes to being "examples" to the American people!....Look at the photo of the"joyous group" above....NOT ONE OH THEM WILL EVER TAKE PART IN THIS HEALTH CARE BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Yet they are THRILLED TO ALLOW YOU to!

This morning I received this video from my dear friend Susie. I beg you to watch it. It is approx. 5 minutes long & will really show you what we all have in store for ourselves.

Indeed, this has been a very somber week for this country. I hope come November we will remember this week & make some changes. That is the only way we will protect the freedom we have left.

Your Friend, Heidi XO

I don't understand it either. We all really need to speak up in Nov. Though I fear it may be to late then. We do our best to vote for those we trust but then they let us down. Not sure what we can do anymore. It's scary, isn't it.

Hugs,
Joanne

Thanks for saying it. I agree 100 percent. We must all speak out and
vote in November.

It is a dark day in America for sure! The whole thing sickens me!

molly March 26, 2010 at 12:00 PM

RIght there with you one this one!! a very sad week for our country. I am so ready for nov and voting this people out of office. they can go back where they came from. We can not afford to lose any more of our freedoms. THank you for speaking out.

onlymehere March 26, 2010 at 12:17 PM

We need to be politically active now though. I agree about losing our freedom and it being a dark day for America. I have started attending meetings for one of our Senator's who is up for reelection and even went to the caucus meeting locally. I'm learning much about our government and the people running it. I know it certainly has made me decide who needs to be voted out of office and I'm working on deciding who needs to be in there. We all need to make our voices heard, although this administration doesn't care what we have to say, at least until they're voted out of office. May God truly bless America during the days ahead.

Heidi, thank you for expressing what so many people obviously feel. We are watching our constitution being mocked!

I can't understand why people are so upset about this. I tried getting into the video but I'm unable to. My daughter had a liver transplant at 26 yrs old and has been unable to get insurance except for through the government and it costs her an arm and a leg. Now she will be able to get it. My mother's donut hole will finally close so she won't have to pay huge amounts for her medication. I think it's a great bill and it's been a long time coming. I also don't know where you're getting that so many people didn't want it. The latest gallup pole says that more people are happy with it then are not happy with it.

Sad when you cant trust the people that are suppose to represent you. People need to get more involved.

If it's so great, I agree with you, everyone should have it, even you Mr. President!

PatQ March 26, 2010 at 5:26 PM

I did a little digging around because this really bothers me that so many people are upset. The video your friend sent you is not what was just passed into law. She sent you hr3200 and the one that passed is hr3590. It doesn't have those things in there. I couldn't find a hr3200 but it's a mute point since it's not the one.

Finally we have a President that is for the American people and not for the big corporations as the past 8 years. Those 8 years almost ruined this country. I have had several family members that have had cancer and their Insurance Companies dropped them like a hot potato. I applaud President Obama for standing up for us.

Rhondi March 26, 2010 at 8:10 PM

I agree with you. It is scary what is happening. Is there anyone left in Washington who has any integrity?

Charlotte March 27, 2010 at 2:04 AM

Thank you for saying what everyone else feels. Obama was voted in only because he was black and younger than McCain. The young voters had no clue as to what he was all about. He promised "change" and boy are we changing!

Fleur de Bee March 27, 2010 at 2:55 AM

Our whole family is just terrified...that and looking at other countries to flee too haha! Thanks for having the guts to say this. I made a smallish comment on Facebook and just got attacked it was quite an eye opener!

EvalinaMaria March 27, 2010 at 7:17 AM

I absolutely agree with you. I grew up in a communist country and I developed a deadly allergy to communist and socialists (there is really no big difference between those two). Obama is causing my allergy to explode.

Shabbychicdiva March 27, 2010 at 9:21 AM

I agree 100 percent. It's horrible. I felt so bad when this passed and I'm very sad to see what is happening to my beautiful country I love so much. I hope we can recover from this disaster. Winona

Connie from Beverly Hills California March 27, 2010 at 9:28 AM

Well, I am a white female 56 years old and my husband (which is also white) very much support our President. I think what we all need to realize that this country was on the verge of being in the next Great Depression thanks to President Bush. I know you are all upset but you are attacking the wrong President.

Beth Niquette March 27, 2010 at 11:28 AM

I have little understanding why they voted that when over half our nation believed it to be a bad idea. Flawed thinking to believe it possible to vote in something that's bad and then FIX it.

We received the American Community Survey in addition to the Census forms...it's a 28 page, 42 question survey that the commerce dept/census bureau mandates we fill out (by law or we'll be penalized they say).

They want us to answer personal questions I wouldn't discuss with my Mother. And I LOVE my Mother!

They want to know about any disabilities anyone in the house has--how those disabilities affect their lives--whether or not we have a flushing toilet, and how many rooms are in our house...that in addition to DETAILED financial information.

After a month of letters and packets, reminders and veiled threats through the mail, we started getting the daily phone calls. They came in up until near 10 p.m. That went on for a month. Now we are informed we should expect a personal visit from a rep who will get the information that way.

I've written to every senator, majority leader, Republican, Women's groups, my commissioners and mayor about this. I hope to see some kind of results.

More and more of our freedoms are slipping out the window.

Sorry didn't mean to get on a schpeal--It's just nice to hear from someone who thinks a lot like I do.

Blessings! And happy Pink Saturday. (grin)

I don't know why people are terrified of this bill passing, my recall of my high school social studies class serves me well, there were people like this when the civil rights amendment passed, when the women suffrage amendment passed, and so on. They all said that the country would go to ruins, but we didn't. We simply took one step closer to establishing a more perfect union, as we realized those inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We got another one right!

Tardevil March 28, 2010 at 9:42 AM

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO with you on this. Lord help our country survive the next 3 years. I promise to vote against anyone that voted for that bill. I'm scared to think what is next on the agenda - probably gun control. And to think, he can spend more money than me. I don't think my husband thought anyone could do that! :)

Beth Niquette March 28, 2010 at 5:47 PM

We did send in our census form a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to add one more thing about the American Community Survey. This morning my Husband decided to count the questions in the American Community Survey, disregarding their numbering system. For five people you would actually be filling out 272 intrusive personal questions. For one couple the actual count is 121 questions. That's NOT counting the subquestions beneath each question.

They say it would take about 38 minutes to fill out the survey and that is a crock. To put in the kind of detailed financial information along with all the other things they are asking for (amounts paid for various insurance, amounts of each investment, wages, tips, etc.) for five people would take me more than a day.

If you'd like to see an informational copy of the AMerican Community Survey here's the link: http://www.census.gov/acs/www/Downloads/ACS-1(info)(2010)%20Stateside%20English_web.pdf

And imagine this--they want the information on FIVE people in the home. Then if you list more than five (they have a place for names and such up to 12 people) they'll call you for information on THOSE people. Or so I've heard from people who, under the intimidation and threats given, actually filled out this survey.

Its sad and so shamefull that so many people are upset with this health care plan.
Isnt it ok that those of us with pre exsisting conditions can now get covered by health care that WE are willing to pay for afterall. The only ones who lose a little bit of freedome here is the Health care corps that have been gouging us blindly and with impunity for decades.
Get your facts straight and dont be duped and used as tools for those who are just plain upset STILL that Obama won fair and square,,, no like Bush
Obama is a decent man who campaigned on passing health care reform and now its done. thank you!
Facts speak louder than redoric.
and Once you who are in mourning finally see that there will be no Death Pannels and the sky will not open up and swallow us whole... and the outright lies , and straight up fear tactics that have been plasterted about turn out to be seen for what they are... and you can keep the care that you have .. and when you do eventually get sick and can reast assured thet the Insurance company will not cancel you when you need it most.. or after you find out that you have cancer... you will see that you have been had.. and lied to all along... remember these are the very same folks who brought you "weapons of mass distruction" ,.. that turned out not to be
I can not wait for the time when resonable civil minded republicans can once again surface and , with level heads and respectful truthfull terms have a valid discussion with differing points of view without calling each other un-american or worse...
This is america where I always thought we were free to have our own views with out disparaging the other who does not agree with us...
What happened to us??? Isnt it undersandable that I can have a different point of view and still keep my humanity and still love my country??? Isnt it ok to see the facts with out dehumanizing other people or disrespecting each other...
I am so relieved that I can take care of my family and keep my very very small business and still respect others who think that the sky is going to fall.
And I am also incredibly embarrassed by those of my fellow Christians brothers and sisters who call themselves such and yet still forget the very basics of our faith... not bearing false witness against our neighbor... and about the whole "thou shall not lie" bit.. and the whole loving our neighbor.. and ... "when I was hungry you feed me..when I was naked you clothed me" bits in our Bible..Have we really forgoten everything just for the sake of some seemingly pety politics??
My God is a God of love and compassion . thats what I was taught and thats what I will hold to... With sadness and forgiveness I still hold you all dear my sisters.

We did indeed lose some of your Freedom! God help us.... I know HE will, LOL, but I have to admit I am somewhat fearful. Hard working people will see money literally flying out their front door. It is in my opinion a "redistribution" of wealth. Trust me the American people will pay dearly. Thank you for posting your thoughts!

Phyllis @Around the House April 2, 2010 at 9:24 PM

thank you, I so agree with all you had to say and 100 times more, we must call our reps continually and be heard.....thanks for standing up....

mysteryhistorymom April 3, 2010 at 12:04 AM

Heidi- You are right on the money, dear friend. I am so proud of you for speaking up! My grandparents are Canadian and when my grandfather found out he had cancer the doctors basically told him that he was old and would die soon enough so he was denied treatment! Another friend of mine is Canadian and her mother had a medical situation where she needed to have some tests done. She had to wait months and then had to drive through a snowstorm at 2 AM to have the tests done! It's frightening to think that we are heading down that path, Heidi....

On a happier note, I LOVE your fabric eggs! They are sooo precious! Big Hugs!! Lori

Why are our voice's not heard? The majority of people DO NOT WANT THIS. I think that a revolution in our own country may happen and that really scare's me to death. i fear for our freedom's.

It's great to see all these conservative comments. There are so many sheeple out there with their heads in the sand. Voting the bad ones out in Nov is our best bet for now.

I'm all for people having health care but there are better ways than government takeover.

Hopechest Bride April 6, 2010 at 6:27 PM

I support OUR President 100%! Thank God the bill passed.

Jennifer@woodleycottage April 13, 2010 at 5:56 PM

Amen! I agree with your post 100%! This administration is spending money that we do not have and making decisions that aren't exactly what they are portrayed to be and it infuriates me! (Almost as much as people who try to defend their position, yet do not even know how to spell! That does tend to diminish ones credibility, as far as I'm concerned.)

I will not get on my soap box. I just wanted you to know that I agree with and support your post, wholeheartedly. November will not get here soon enough!

Thank you for being so bold and speaking your mind. I am amazed at how poorly our government (well, it's not mine any more) is handling this. Yes, I agree.. our freedom is slipping away little by little.

I miss Carlsbad and all of San Diego for that matter.. glad to see you are heading there. I can't wait to read your posts.
